Stage 2 - Email Task - National Parks

1. Access the DET Portal by clicking on the link: https://portal.det.nsw.edu.au
2. Open your email account
3. Click on 'New' on the top left hand side
4. Click on the 'To' button, which opens the GAL - Global Address List.
5. Click in the Alias field
6. Type a 'tilde' (~) which is done by holding down the 'Shift" and pressing the key above the 'Tab' key.
7. Then enter your school code next to the tilde.
8. Click on 'Find'
9. Select your class (PC) or tick the box next to your class (Mac) from the list that appears
10. Click 'To' at the bottom of this window
11. Click 'Close'
12. In the subject box, type “National Parks – Email Task”
13. Highlight all the text in the National Parks - Email Task section below.
14. Copy and Paste this text into your email text window.
15. Press 'Send' - the lesson will then go to all students in your class.

                2. Scroll down the page to see how much each National Park charges.

                 3.  Answer the following questions:

a) Which park charges the most for daily vehicle entry throughout the year?

b) Which park charges the least for daily vehicle entry?

c) What is the highest fee and the lowest fee for vehicle entry?

d) If you were visiting a National Park that charged the highest vehicle entry fee during January, which park and section would you be visiting?

e) What is the difference in fees at Kosciuszko National Park between the start of the June long weekend to the end of the October long weekend period and the rest of the year?

                 4.  Click on the buying an annual pass link located above the Daily vehicle entry fee table.

                 5. The most expensive pass is the All Parks Pass. There is an option to purchase a yearly pass or a pass      for 2 years. How much would you save, per year, if you bought the 2 - year All Park Pass rather than the 1 - year pass?

                 6. You have planned your National Parks visits for the year. You are deciding whether to buy an annual pass or not. The parks you will be visiting are:

þ     Mt Kosciuszko National Park 2 days in July

þ     Oxley Wild Rivers National Park (Riverside) 3 days

þ     Myall Lakes National Park 5 days

þ     Bents Basin State Conservation Reserve 4 days
