Teacher Instructions
1.      Access the DET Portal by clicking on the link: https://portal.det.nsw.edu.au
2.      Open your email account
3.      Click on ‘New’ on the top left hand side
4.      Click on the ‘To’ button, which opens the GAL – Global Address List
5.      Click in the ‘Alias’ field
6.      Type a ‘tilde’ (~) which is done by holding down the ‘Shift’ and pressing the key above the ‘Tab’ key
7.      Enter your school code next to the tilde
8.      Click on ‘Find’
9.      Select your class (PC) or tick the box next to your class (Mac) from the list that appears
10.    Click ‘To’ at the bottom of this window
11.    Click ‘Close’
12.    In the subject box, type “Ancient Egypt: The Sphinx – Email Task 1”
13.    Highlight all the text in “Ancient Egypt: The Sphinx – Email Task 1” section below
14.    Copy and paste this text into your email text window
15.    Add an attachment by either clicking on the icon of the paper clip or clicking on the writing ‘Attachment’. You will need to add the following document to your email “Ancient Egypt: The Sphinx – Email Task 1”
16.    Press ‘Send’. The lesson will then go to all students in your class

To send the next email task:

17.    Repeat the above steps. Replace Ancient Egypt: The Sphinx – Email task 1 for Task 2 at step 12 and at step 13, replace the text in Ancient Egypt: The Sphinx – Email Task 1for Task 2
18.    Attach Ancient Egypt: Mummification – Email Task 2, then Ancient Egypt: Gods and Goddesses – Email Task 3
19.    Inform students that they will need to complete Ancient Egypt: The Sphinx – Email Task 1 before completing Ancient Egypt: Mummification – Email Task 2
20.    Make sure you have changed the name of the next activity to be done in their instructions.

Student Instructions:

1. Open the attachment “Ancient Egypt: The Sphinx – Email Task 1.doc”
2. Read carefully through the activity sheet
3. Complete each section of the activity sheet
4. Save the completed worksheet as “Ancient Egypt Task 1 your name.doc”, for example, if your name is John Smith, you would save your worksheet as “Ancient Egypt Task 1 John Smith.doc”
5. Send me an email by clicking on ‘Reply’ and attaching the completed worksheet “Ancient Egypt Task 1 your name.doc”
6. Only complete the next activity sheet when you have been given instructions to do so.
