Stage 3 - Tessellations Email Task

Teacher Instructions
 1. Access the DET Portal by clicking on the link: https://portal.det.nsw.edu.au
2. Open your email account
3. Click on 'New' on the top left hand side
4. Click on the 'To' button, which opens the GAL - Global Address List.
5. Click in the Alias field
6. Type a 'tilde' (~) which is done by holding down the 'Shift" and pressing the key above the 'Tab' key.
7. Then enter your school code next to the tilde.
8. Click on 'Find'
9. Select your class (PC) or tick the box next to your class (Mac) from the list that appears
10. Click 'To' at the bottom of this window
11. Click 'Close'
12. In the subject box, type “Tessellations – Email Task 1”
13. Highlight all the text in the Patterns & Algebra - Tessellations section below.
14. Copy and Paste this text into your email text window.
15. Add an attachment by either clicking on the icon of the paper clip or clicking on the writing “Attachment”. You will need to add the following documents to your email; “2D Shapes Worksheet 3.doc” download by clicking here and “2D Shapes Worksheet 3 Answers.doc” download by clicking here
16. Press 'Send' - the lesson will then go to all students in your class.



This means up to 30 emails will be returned to you - if you do not wish to reply to each individual email then repeat the steps 4-11 to send one email to email the whole class thanking them for their efforts.

Patterns & Algebra - Tessellations

2. Click on Combining shapes Factsheet 3
3. Read the information provided in the Factsheet.
4. Open the attachment: 2D Shapes Worksheet 3.doc
þ Open as a read only file.
5. Complete the worksheet.
þ Save the completed worksheet as “2D 3 your name.doc”, i.e. If your name was John Smith, you would save your worksheet as “2D 3 john smith.doc”
6. Check your answers by opening the attachment: 2D Shapes Worksheet 3 Answers.doc
7. Send me an email by clicking on ‘Reply’ and attaching the complete worksheet, “2D 3 your name.doc”.
